Dr.Jyoti K. Parikh
Executive Director

Dr. Jyoti Parikh is the Executive Director since the inception of IRADe in 2002. Dr. Parikh is the former member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change – India and is a recipient of Nobel Peace Prize awarded to IPCC authors in 2007.

Dr. Jyoti Parikh has made valuable contribution in environment and climate change issues of the developing countries. She is also heading the Center of Excellence (CoE) on Urban Development and Climate Change, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), India.

Dr. Jyoti Parikh has also provided energy and environment consultancy to the Planning Commission, New Delhi (1978-80), World Bank, U.S. Department of Energy, European Economic Community, Brussels, and UN agencies such as UNIDO, FAO, UNU, UNDP and UNESCO. Moreover, she has been actively contributing as an advisor to various ministries for Government of India.

Dr. Parikh served as the Senior Professor at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, and was the Acting Director of IGIDR during 1997-98. She also worked at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria, and was visiting professor at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) of UNU, Tokyo 1995-96. She holds a PhD. from the University of Maryland, College Park and M.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from University of California, Berkeley.

 

Mr. Pankaj Batra
Pankaj Batra
Project Director

Mr. Pankaj Batra is currently working as the Project Director, USAID funded Project on South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) at Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe) from March 2019.  Mr. Batra has more than 35 years of experience and is responsible for spearheading the SARI/EI program and ensuring attainment of its objectives of promoting regional energy integration in South Asia, moving South Asian countries towards increased regional energy security and Cross-Border Electricity Trade (CBET) and regional energy market development. Mr. Batra has done his B.Tech (Electrical) from IIT Varanasi and has a Diploma in Systems Management from NarseeMonjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and a diploma in Financial Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Mr. Batra is also currently the Chairperson of Working Group 4 on “Policy, Regulation, and Business Models” in the India Smart Grid Forum, Chairperson of the BIS Committee of LITD 10 – “Power System Control and Associated Communication”and Chairperson of the BIS Committee ETD-52, for making technical Standards on Grid-Scale Storage. He is also an invited expert by NitiAayog for preparation of Working paper on Energy Sector-2035 as a part of Vision Document 2047. He is also an invited Member of the Core Group of India Energy Transformation Platform.

Prior to joining IRADe, Mr. Pankaj Batra served as the Chairperson and CEO of the Central Electricity Authority and was responsible for the overall development of the Indian power system including Hydro, Thermal and Renewable Power as well as the Transmission & Distribution System of the country. He was also Member (Planning) and ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India. He has earlier also worked as Chief (Engineering) in the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission and as Executive Engineer in Chukha Hydro Power Corporation, Bhutan, on deputation from the Government of India, in operation and maintenance of the power station and later in operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution system. Mr.V.K. AgrawalVinod Kumar Agrawal
Technical Director

Mr. V K Agrawal has joined IRADe in December 2018 and is presently working as Technical Director in South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) Project. He is responsible for steering the technical functions under SARI/EI program meant for harmonization of policy and regulatory framework, advancement of transmission network and development of markets towards enhancing Cross-Border Energy Trade (CBET) and Power System Integration & Energy Security in South Asia (SA) Region.

He has graduated from Delhi College of Engineering and has done M. Tech in PAS  from I.I.T, Delhi. He has represented India on the CIGRE Standing Committee - C2, on ‘Power System Operation and Control’ and is a Senior Member of IEEE. He has authored a number of papers in the field of Power System and is also co-editor of the book titled ‘Grid Security and Management’ published in the year 2009.

Mr. V K Agrawal has around 40 years of experience in the power sector and for a considerable period, he has served as Grid Operator in various elite capacities in POSOCO (Power System Operation Corporation). During his stay at POSOCO, he has headed the Northern and Southern Regional Grids as well as the National Grid of India and was involved in the synchronization of large grids, market mechanism in India and integration of renewables with the grid.


RohitMagotra
Deputy Director

RohitMagotra has joined IRADe from 2013 and is presently leading the thematic area of Sustainable Urban Development as Deputy Director. Between 2016-2018 he led the Think Tank Forum for South Asia Regional co-operation under USAID SARI/EI programme to engage with policymakers, media, parliamentarians, bureaucrats, civil society and citizens to help prioritize, fast track and push the agenda for Cross Border Electricity Trade. He is currently leading research on climate change and cities. His research work focusses on climate adaptation and climate action in Indian cities.

Mr. Magotra is Masters in Environmental Sciences with an advanced degree in management from IIFM, Bhopal. He has authored/co-authored/contributed several national and international papers and publications related to energy policy, disaster resilience, climate resilience, public health, energy, forestry environment, smart cities, e-governance & SME supply chains. He has 19 years plus experience in policy research, advocacy, consensus building, programme management, setting multi-stakeholder consortiums of government, public and private sector. He is an impact investor and recipient of prestigious awards which include Stockholm Challenge GKP Award, 2007, Dell Small Business Excellence Award, 2009 NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours, 2010. 

Prior to IRADe, he worked as Director, Inext Retail Services Pvt. Ltd. and Chief Operating Officer, Ekgaon technologies.


Dr.ProbalPratap Ghosh

Head - Modelling

Dr. ProbalPratap Ghosh is presently the Head-Modelling and has been associated with IRADe since 2008.His research work coversseveral areas of econometrics and optimizations-based data modelling and their application in macroeconomics, energy, agriculture and international economics, trade &finance, etc. Alongside his technical expertise in Econometric and time series techniques like structural modelling, VAR-VEC, ARMA-ARIMA modelling, Dr. Probal Ghosh is also an authority on optimization based techniques and optimization based modelling for GHG emissions, energy demand and supply with emphasis on policy analysis, energy planning, energy technology assessment, and methodology development.

Dr. Ghoshhas done his Ph.D. in Macro Economics from Mumbai University India andMS in Quantitative Economics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.Dr. Ghosh has also contributed to capacity building in environment and climate change and alsotrained 4 batches of Indian statistical service officers on time series and forecasting techniques at Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore from 2001-2006.

Prior to joining IRADe, he worked in Planning commission.


Mr. Ramesh Kumar Tiwari

Finance Head

Mr. Ramesh Kumar Tiwari is associated with IRADe from 2013 and is currently working as Finance Head at USAID funded Project - South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI). He has more than 20 years of experience working in the Finance & Grants Management of various development sector organizations. Mr. Tiwari also has exposure on handling the projects funded by The Global Fund, UNICEF, UNDP & Various Ministries of Government of India. His core competencies are on budgeting & fiduciary regulation applicable to development sector, such FCRA, Society Act, Income Tax act & ensuring that all the program activities related goals are met through accurate financial Management.

Mr. Tiwari has done Post-Graduation Diploma in Financial Management (PGDM Finance) from AIMA, New Delhi, India and Master in Commerce (M. Com) & Bachelor of Law (LL.B.).
Prior to IRADe he was working with India HIV Aids Alliance, Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT) & Charities Aid Foundation of India (CAF India).

 

Mr. Rajiv Ratna Panda

Technical Head

Rajiv Ratna Panda has been with IRADe for nearly a decade. Mr Rajiv Ratna Panda is presently the Head-Technical in the USAID's South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) Project.Rajiv Panda has led various technical, research and advocacy assignments in these areas, and was instrumental in developing Regional Regulatory Guidelines and Regional Regulatory/Technical Institutional Mechanism. He has worked extensively with Energy/Power Ministries, Regulatory Commission, Power Utilities and civil societies of South Asia countries. Mr. Panda also engages regularly with BIMSTEC, SAARC, SAARC Energy Center, USAID, REC, TIFAC, Ministry of Finance (GOI), Shakti Foundation, BHC & DIFID, AEA Technology, Emergent Ventures, CII, FES (India) etc.

Mr. Panda is MBA in Energy Management and B.E. in Electrical Engineering. He has rich & diverse experience in areas of Rural Electrification & Energy Access, Energy Modelling & Transition, Subsidy Reform, Climate Change & Low Carbon Growth, Grid Codes harmonization, Cross-Border Energy Trade (CBET), Investment Policy, Power Trading, Open Access, regional transmission planning and operation.

Prior to joining IRADe, he worked as Management Trainee in Orient paper mill, Amali, MP.

 

Chandrashekhar Singh
Senior Research Analyst

Chandrashekhar Singh is Senior Research Analyst at IRADe. His research focuses on energy access, fossil fuel subsidies reform, gender and related policy issues. He is also working in the area of agriculture and climate change.Over the past years, Mr. Singh has worked on multiple has national and international study in the cross cutting areas of energy, gender, agriculture and climate change. Trained as economist, he keenly explores working in the area of macroeconomic analysis.

Chandrashekhar is an M.A.in Economics from the Gokhale institute of Politics and Economics, Pune in June 2006.

In his career of 13 years, Chandrashekhar has been a part of Market Analytics team for CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) industries and advised many multinational companies of repute on their pricing and promotion, and media strategy for markets across Asia, Europe and North America. In Indian market, he has advised many CPG clients on their market distribution strategies.

 

Dr.Ashutosh Sharma
Senior Research Analyst

Dr. Ashutosh Sharma has joined IRADe in August 2013 and had worked on projects related to Energy access, Agriculture, Climate change, Macroeconomics, Poverty and Gender. His area of expertise is policy analyses, designing and implementing large primary surveys, Micro-econometrics and Time-series modelling. He is presently working on projects related to impact of energy access on health and education; climate change mitigation and agriculture.

Dr. Ashutosh Sharma has done his M.A. in Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. He has obtained his Ph.D from Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (MSE-PP) (formerly Dept. of Economics), University of Mumbai, India, 2013.

Dr. Ashutosh Sharma has more than 12 years of experience which includes his corporate engagement. Prior to joining IRADe he was Assistant Professor at NIIT University where he taught courses  on Macroeconomics and Econometrics. In his early professional years, he was Manager in the Strategy and Planning department at Reliance Retail Ltd.


Dr.Mohit Kumar
Research Analyst

DrMohitKumarl has joined IRADe in July 2015 and is presently working as Research Analyst. He is presently working on several projects dealing with, developing Disaster Risk Resilience (DRR) in mountainous cities, formulation of mitigation strategies for air pollution in Delhi, identification of thermal hotspots in Delhi, Rajkot and Bhubaneshwar using satellite data, assessing the variability of ambient air temperature and land surface temperature across the urban landscape, land use/land cover classification using remote sensing data, and analysing the impact of climatic parameters on Dengue prevalence in Delhi and Rajkot. Previously, he worked on a project dealing with ecological assessment of mangroves and coral reefs in Marine National Park and Sanctuary, Jamnagar, Gujarat, India.
 
He holds a Ph.D. from Nirma University, Ahmedabad, and is life member of Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG) and Indian Meteorological Society (IMS). He has authored several research papers in international journals, demonstrating application of satellite data for societal benefits. Dr. Kumar has an experience of 10 years in utilizing remote sensing satellite data and Geographic Information System (GIS) for deriving information related to spatio-temporal changes in vegetation cover, changes in coastal zones, mangroves, coral reefs, climate change, land use/land cover change, biodiversity loss, air pollution, heat stress, spread of vector-borne diseases and disasters in mountainous regions.

Prior to joining IRADe, he has worked at Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Ahmedabad, and at Gujarat Environment Management Institute (GEMI), Gandhinagar. 

 

Dr. Mohit Kumar Gupta
Senior Research Associate

Dr. Mohit Kumar Gupta has been a part of IRADe since 2012. He is a Veterinary doctor and did his Master in Environmental Sciences. In IRADe, he has been working on research and development, project/program management, assessment studies, methodology development, fundraising and business development, concept note and proposal writing, partnership development, capacity building and training. Program monitoring and evaluation, networking &coordination with stakeholders, national and International Organizations.  

Dr. Gupta has also done post-graduation diploma in Urban Management, Rural Management and certificate program in GIS. He has more than 8 years of experience with expertise in Remote Sensing and GIS, Climate Change & Environment, natural resource management & sustainable development, urban planning, renewable energy and energy efficiency, energy resource planning, gender and energy access, air pollution, heat stress and public health disaster resilience.

Prior to joining IRADe, Dr. Mohit Kumar Gupta worked as Program Executive in DA and Associate consultant in Clean Trade Group.  

 

Vinay Kumar Saini
Senior Research Analyst | Energy & Power Systems 

Mr. Saini has joined IRADe in August 2014 and is presently working as a Senior Research Analyst with the Energy Team at IRADe. He is responsible for undertaking research in the area of cross border electricity trade, climate change and electric mobility at IRADe. In addition to this, Mr. Saini is also undertaking energy system modelling work for South Asia region on TIMES (The Integrated MARKAL EFOM System) Energy System Model at IRADe.
Mr. Saini is a postgraduate in Power Management from National Power Training Institute, Faridabad and is having energy sector experience of around 7 years. Mr. Saini has got exposure to various domains of Energy such as Power, Coal, Smart Grids, Energy System Modelling, etc. His international experience includes power system modelling of Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and their integration with Indian power system model.

Before joining IRADe, Mr. Saini worked with Infraline Energy wherein he worked on research studies on coal industry of Indonesia and Australia (at state level) with focus on areas such as institutional setup, regulatory setup, licensing and pricing, etc.

 

Vishnu Pratap Pandey
Senior Research Analyst

Mr. Vishnu Pratap Pandey currently works as Sr. Research Analyst, South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) at Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe) and provides Techno Commercial inputs/advice as well as the Technical, Policy, Regulatory, inputs/advice to the SARI/EI program for enhancing Cross-Border Energy Trade (CBET), Power System Integration & Energy Security in South Asia (SA).
He holds MBA (Power Management) from NPTI an Institute run by Ministry of Power, Faridabad and B.E.in Elect. &Comm from GBPEC Pauri, Garhwal an UttarakhandGovtColege.Mr. Vishnu Pratap Pandey has rich & diverse experience and expertise in the areas of Renewable Energy such as Solar, Biomass, Energy Access, Climate Change, Techno Commercial analysis of CBET, SAR Power Exchange, Power Market and Regulatory, Technical, Operational aspects of Power System Interconnection in South Asia.

In his previous assignments he was instrumental with regulatory policy development of renewable, grid connectivity issues of renewable power and solar guidelines He has worked extensively with Energy/Power Ministries, Regulatory Commission, Power Utilities in, Solar Developers, Bilateral Agencies. Previously he has worked with Lanco Infra, GIZ, Thermax and Panasonic.

Senior Research Associate

Ms. Moumita Shaw has joined IRADe in January, 2017 and is presently working as a Senior Research Associate. She is currently involved in "Climate Adaptive Action Plans to Manage Heat Stress in Indian Cities", "Prediction of Dengue with Climate change over Delhi and Rajkot", “Developing Disaster Resilience Action Plan through GIS and Prioritizing Actions for Natural Disaster Risk Reduction in Urban Agglomerations of Shillong and Gangtok" projects where she is involved in qualitative and qualitative research and analysis and urban climate resilience planning.

She has a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and has also a Master’s Degree in Geography, from Delhi School of Economic (DSE), University of Delhi, Delhi. She has authored papers on Industrial Water Abatement and also co-authored various papers on Urban Climate Resilience, Dengue trends, Heat Stress management etc. 

Ms. Moumita Shaw has over 8 years’ experience working in Urban Planning, slum redevelopment, climate resilience projects. Prior to IRADe she has worked in Centre of Environment Education(CEE), Ahmedabad and Kolkata as Programme Officer in the field of urban sustainability, transport governance, etc. She has also worked as Capacity Building and Training Coordinator under RAY Technical Cell, at Rajkot Municipal Corporation, Rajkot, Gujarat in the field of urban planning, slum redevelopment and affordable housing. She has been extensively involved in on-field, public and Government interface projects across Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar.

 

Reema Bardhan
Communication Specialist

Ms. ReemaBardhan joined South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) atIntegrated Research and Action for Development IRADe in 2019 as Communication Specialist. In hercurrent role, she is responsible to drive the awareness and visibility of SARI/EI initiatives and impacton promoting CBET in the South Asia region.

Ms. Bardhan possess more than 11 years of experience in integrated communication practices,including Public Relations, Digital Media and Content Management. She has handled thecommunications and brand building mandate for companies such as Cairn India Ltd., HCLInfosystems, NIIT Ltd.

Prior to joining IRADe, she worked as Marketing & Communications Manager with ICRAManagement Consulting Services. Ms. Bardhan holds an MBA in Marketing from Lal BahadurInstitute of Management, Delhi.


Vijay Raj J.
Consultant

Mr. Vijay Raj J. has joined IRADe in December 2019 and is presently working as a Consultant in the Climate Adaptive Heat Stress Action Plan and the Urban Vulnerability Index project.  He is responsible for research, analysis and documentation of the technical functions under HSAP and UVI programs, which aim to study the implications of climate change induced heat stress and disasters in Indian cities and the urban centres of South Asia.
He received his Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, UK and also holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Anna University, Chennai. He has written for numerous news outlets on climate change and the need for adaptation measures at international level. His research project elaborated the effectiveness of mitigation measures for the conservation efforts in the special protected area of Portugal.

Mr. Vijay Raj J. has around 8 years of international experience in the global efforts taken towards tackling climate change. He assisted scientists at the Climatic Research Unit in Norwich, England and worked as a field researcher with conservation organizations in the UK and India. During his tenure as a Research Assistant at the Changing Oceans Research Unit in the University of British Columbia, Canada, he helped scientists find solutions for the impact of climate change on global fisheries and assisted the lead authors of the UN IPCC's 5th assessment report on climate change. He has also worked with consultancies in South Asia on projects of DFID UK, World Bank, and in projects funded by European Union, NSERC Canada, and Nippon Neureus.


Ms. Apali VarshneyApaliVarshney
Sr. Research Associate

Ms. ApaliVarshney joined IRADe as Senior Research Associate in 2019. At IRADe, she is working for the USAID’s SARI/EI project. She has 5 years’ professional experience in the Research and Project Management in Energy domain majorly Power Distribution.

Ms. Varshney has also worked on Energy Efficiency related projects, as well as Electricity Distribution scheme related projects including survey and analysis work.

She has worked with RECL, Shakti and few other private sector clients. Prior to joining IRADe, she has worked with Torrent Power Ltd. She has done her MBA in Power Management and B.Tech in Information Technology.

 

Kumar Abhishek
Research Analyst 

Kumar Abhishek joined IRADe as Research Analyst in 2019. He is currently working on a project which explores enabling state level strategic actions for India's NDC wherein he is undertaking the efforts required in Energy sector at state level to achieve the committed targets of India's NDC to UNFCCC. He is also working on an assignment which discusses the implications of changing costs of RE and Storage technologies on regional power trade in South Asia. Additionally, he is assisting in an EV project which explores the impact of EV in DISCOMs in Delhi.

He has a degree of MBA in Power Management and B.Tech. in Power Engineering and has more than 7 years of professional experience in the Energy domain working primarily on Generation and Distribution value chain of the Indian Electricity Sector in various capacities. He has also worked on climate change adaptation and mitigation, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, GHG inventory creation and allied activities. He has further worked on regulatory and government policy matters of Wind Energy sector.

Prior to joining IRADe, he was employed as Consultant in Meghraj Capital Advisors Pvt. Ltd.

 


Dr.Jasleen Bhatti,
Consultant, IRADe

Dr. Jasleen Bhatti has joined IRADe in November 2018 and is presently working as Consultant in the Energy & Power systems team. She is responsible for working closely with the energy team on various projects pertaining to energy, climate change and sustainability etc.

She is a doctorate in Energy from Centre for Energy Studies (CES) at IIT Delhi and was awarded the degree in the year 2016.She has several research publications published in journals of high repute. She is also the co-editor of a global report on Smart Grids titled “Synergy” that was published by DST. The report lays down research strategies of 14 MI member countries viz. Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Republic of Korea, Sweden and US in the area of smart grids.

Dr. Jasleen Bhatti has around more than 10 years of work experience. She has worked as Assistant Professor cum Project Facilitator at the Energy Centre and Incubator at EMPI Business School, New Delhi which was supported by NITI Aayog and Energy Lab, Australia. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor with Northern India Engineering College, IP University. She has also worked with worked with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi; GE; and American Express in the ITES sector.

 

Ananya Bhatia
Research Associate, IRADe 

Ms. Ananya Bhatia has joined IRADe in February 2018 and is presently working as a Research Associate. She is currently involved in "Climate Adaptive Action Plans to Manage Heat Stress in Indian Cities", "Prediction of Dengue with Climate change over Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Rajkot", "Process analysis, observations and modelling- Integrated solutions for cleaner air for Delhi- PROMOTE", “Developing Disaster Resilience Action Plan through GIS and Prioritizing Actions for Natural Disaster Risk Reduction in Urban Agglomerations of Shillong and Gangtok" where she works on GIS and other Research. 

She completed her Bachelors in Urban and Regional Planning from Guru Ramdas School of Planning, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and has done M. Tech in Urban Planning from the same institute. 

Ms. Ananya Bhatia has more than 3 years of combined experience working in Urban Planning and Environment projects. Prior to IRADe, she has worked at Environics Trust, Delhi, as a research analyst and as an Urban Planner at TILA consultants, PUDA Bhawan, Mohali. She has worked in the research as well as field-based work for various projects in Nepal, Uttarakhand, Korba, Dhanbad and Mohali for her previous organizations. 

 

AnshumanBehera
Research Associate, Energy and Power Sector.

AnshumanBehera has been a part of IRADe since 2016 and is presently working as a Research Associate in the Energy and Power Sector.

His technical expertise is in excel based programing and optimization-based data modelling in Energy Systems and Transport Planning. He has done his M.A in Energy Economics from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies and B. Tech in Computer Science from Shiksha O’ Anusandhan University. He has also contributed to a number of research reports and papers on Transport and Power Systems.

Before joining IRADe, He had his internship with The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), New Delhi, India. He is also proficient in software like ANSWER TIMES, VEDA_BE, Stata, MS Office, and VBA. 

 

Anurag Dey
Research Associate

Anurag Dey has joined IRADe in 2019 as a Research Associate. He is currently working on the modelling of the transport demand projection. He is responsible for the research on Electric Vehicle and the computation of the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for India. During his tenure, he has gained exposure and knowledge to various domains in the Transport Sector and SAM.

He has completed his under graduation in B.A. Economics from Delhi University and his post-graduation in M.A. Energy Economics from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies. He has knowledge in working with various software’s such as Excel, Stata, SPSS, R and Tableau.

Prior to joining IRADe, Anurag has done his internship in Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) on “Introduction of Competition in the power sector of Japan: A comparative study with India” and in Centre for Socio-Economic and Political Research (CSEPR) on the analysis of various socio-economic sectors of Bihar.

 

Yashi Sharma
Research Assistant

Ms. Yashi Sharma has joined IRADe in June 2018 and is presently working as a Research Assistant. She is assisting the urban team on all urban development projects. She has been actively working in the projects involving climate resilience of the cities which includes “Developing Urban Vulnerability Index for 6 Indian Cities”; “Natural Disaster Risk Reduction in Urban Agglomerations of Shillong and Gangtok” and intervention in climate change and health risks through “Climate Adaptive Action Plans to Manage Heat Stress in Indian Cities”.

She completed her Bachelors in Urban Planning and Policy Development from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Where after, from the same institute she perused her masters in Urban and Regional Planning with specialization in housing.

Ms. Yashi Sharma has prior internship experience with Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ), involving retrofitting (5- point programme) of Existing IT parks in Cyberabad Zone of TSIIC. She has also interned at Centre for Urban and Real Estate Policy, where she worked in her capacity preparing Integrated Cluster Action Plan (ICAP) for each Rurban cluster (Phase-2).

 

Mansi Goel
Research Assistant

Mansi Goel joined IRADe in 2019 as a Research Assistant. She focuses on the policy aspects of Energy and Climate Change. Currently, she is working on the power sector of sates to extend state-level action for Nationally Determined Contributions in India. 

She holds an M.Sc. in Environment Management from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. She was a dissertation intern at IRADe where she worked extensively on Goal 3 of India’s Nationally Determined Contributions, especially the industry sector. She was also responsible for the natural gas outlook of the BBINS region for the SARI-EI project of IRADe.

Prior to joining IRADe, she has also interned with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) where she worked on Energy efficiency, Energy audits and GHG mitigation measures in Industries.

 

Apoorv Kumar Singh
Research Assistant

Mr. Apoorv Kumar Singh joined IRADe in July 2019 and is presently working as Research Assistant in the Energy, Climate Change & Environment division. Currently Apoorv is working on Study of EV and its Impact on Discom and Global Wind Energy Cost Projection- a project funded by Energy & Economic Growth.

Mr. Singh has completed his MBA in Power Management from National Power Training Institute, Faridabad and did his B.E (Mechanical Engineering) from Rajeev Gandhi ProdyogikiVishwavidyalaya, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).

Prior joining IRADe, Mr. Singh, worked as an Energy Consultant with Sustain Impact LLP and also participated in the training cum workshop on Blockchain Technology held at IIM Ahmedabad, and was part of the team that developed a demo to simulate P2P power trading using Blockchain as part of the workshop exercises. Apoorv has also worked with the Solar EPC companies in the profile of Business Development-Solar Projects in the Rooftop solar energy space.

 

SaumyaVaish
Research Assistant

SaumyaVaish joined IRADe as a Research Assistant in September 2019.Currently, she is associated with the Shakti project working on the impact assessment of electricity access on health and education. Her research areas of interest include various aspects of Environment including pollution it's analysis and monitoring, energy resources, ecology, Eco technology, environmental management and restoration, environment impact assessment, environment health and safety, waste management and climate change mitigation.

She holds a Master’s degree in Environment Management from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. She graduated with a degree in Botany Hons. From the University of Delhi.

For the completion of her Master’s degree she has worked as a Research Assistant for Himalayan Action Research Centre(HARC) for the UNDP Project- SECURE Himalaya. She has an experience in the field of livelihood sustainability and microplanning. She has also interned with The Shriram Institute of Industrial Research Delhi where she worked as a summer intern in the water science department.

 

Ayush Tiwari
Research Assistant

Mr. Ayush Tiwari joined IRADe in September 2019 and is presently working as Research Assistant and is working on “Crop Diversification as a tool to tackle Stubble Burning in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi with special focus on Horticulture Crops and Orchards”, “Assessing Loss and Damage and Adaptation Cost to Indian Agriculture from Climate Change” and “Capex Projections for Energy Storage Technology.

Mr. Tiwari obtained his M.E. in Water Resources Engineering from Shri GovindramSeksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore. As a part of his dissertation he performed Remote Sensing and GIS based Multi-Parametric Site Suitability Assessment for Agriculture and Comparison of Capability Index of Soil for Different Irrigation Methods.His research interests include Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation studies, Remote Sensing and GIS, Watershed Management, Hydrological Modelling, Land Suitability Assessments, Flood Risk Mapping and Drought Impact studies.

Prior to IRADe, Mr. Tiwari has worked as Senior Research Fellow at Discipline of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Indore on DST-Infra sponsored project titled “Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on Crop Water Requirements and Productivity of Major Crops in Sikkim, Himalayan Region of Northeast India”.

 

Phalguni Dasgupta
Programme Administrator

Ms. PhalguniDasgupta has joined IRADe as Programme Administrator for SARI-EI Project in April 2019. Presently she is handling procurement, Human Resource, and Administration in IRADe.She is leading the Administration function in IRADe and is responsible for overall implementation of the systems, process in the Administration function of the IRADe

She has completed her Masters’ in Accountancy from Gauhati University. She was also involved in the preparation National PanchyatAccounting Manual for the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

She has previously worked with IPE Global as Senior Programme Manager for DFID funded Project Odisha Modernising Economy, Governance and Administrationin Bhubaneswar.

 

Bejoy Kumar Sarkar
Senior Administrative Officer

Bejoy Kumar Sarkar joined IRADe on 25th April, 2006. He has been looking after overall administrative and HR related work of IRADe for more than 10 years in IRADe. He has been looking after the secretarial work of Chairman and Executive Director of IRADe. He has also been handling arrangement of all events/conferences/seminars of IRADe. 

Bejoy Kumar Sarkar has done his Masters in Political Science from Delhi University. 

Prior to joining IRADe, he worked with Apparel Export Promotion Council, New Delhi Sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India.

 

Sharmistha Ghosh

Sharmistha Ghosh has been working in the capacity of an Executive Assistant for the Executive Director and the Chairman since July 2019. At IRADE she is responsible for taking care of the offices of the ED and the Chairman, for organizing their regular meetings, managing their appointment schedules, interacting with all the organisations including Ministries with whom they have regular work, arranging their several domestic and international travels and co-ordination of their events, actively involved in the recruitment process of the company, besides performing some administrative functions within the organization.  She also assists the Senior Administrative Officer and the Programme Administrator in co-ordination with various hotels for hosting official events.

She has done her schooling from St. Joseph’s Convent High School, Patna and graduated in Economics from Patna College, Patna University.  She has done a diploma in Travel Management from the Institute of Travel Management, Kolkata, a diploma in Management of Computer Applications from Centre for Computer Management, Kolkata and a Secretarial Course from Women’s Professional Training Institute, Kolkata.
She has earlier worked with the Taj Group of Hotels at Taj Bengal, Kolkata for the Chief Accounts Officer and the Human Resource Manager as well the General Manager during a foreign posting in Oman. Later she worked with top management like the Country Head, Chairman and Senior Advisor, Senior Partners and Managing Directors in MNCs like Mercer Human Resource Consulting, The Boston Consulting Group and Booz and Company.  She has more than 18 years of experience as an Executive Assistant.

 

Mr. Akash GuptaAkash Gupta
Administrative Officer

Akash Kumar Gupta has been a part of South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) at Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe) since 2018, as Administrative officer.

Mr. Gupta has more than 12 years of experience working into Office Administration, HRM & Finance departments of various Corporates & Non-Government organizations. He has expertise in Office Management, Project Management, HRM Management and procurement.

Prior to joining IRADe, Mr. Akash worked with Institute of Transportation & Development policy, German Leprosy & TB relief Association and G. M. Modi Hospital. Mr. Gupta is Post Graduate in Human Resource Management and is also certified in FCRA, Micro Finance & various accounting software such as Tally, Busy, QuickBooks, WIINPACCS.
