• Working on several projects on Renewable energy , rural electrification and income generation activities in remote villages for sustainable development.. Also working on CDM projects in the area of energy efficiency,renewable energy , transport and hotel industry. Associated with capacity building and international training program in Renewable energy and environment.

• Workedas Director of Sustainable Energy Solutions on several assignments in the area of renewable energy, energy efficiency and innovative clean and eco-friendly technologies as consultants to several corporate clients . Recent work includes design and construction of Earth air tunnels at HRI ,Allahabad, Energy audits at Hotels Samrat and Land Mark, Hindustan Times House, Sona- Koyo Steering Ltd.Sona Okigawa Ltd , IMRB, Wartsila , Syndicate Printers Ltd., Whirlpool, Faridabad . Other work includes ECN project on Solar Home Systems in Developing countries , Mid term evaluation of GOI-UNDP sub-program on Energy-solar project . Under execution is the Base line study for ITC group of Hotels in India for Carbon emission and development of CDM projects. Base line study for Wind Power Project for RSMML at Jaisalmer.

  In addition working with several NGOs like CAPART, IRADE, JWALA, TERI and All India Womens Conference for the implementation and evaluation of their programs. Also helped AIWC in organising the Asia-Pacific Micro Credit Summit 2001.

  Worked on several projects involving renewable energy technology applications ,their financial and promotional aspects including field evaluations. Other work included integrated energy planning for isolated areas and energy audits. Coordinated the Design and establishment of an energy efficient Training hostel for TERI (RETREAT) based solely on the renewable energy hybrid energy system (PV-Gassifier) with building integration, solar hot water, waste heat recovery and earth air tunnel for air conditioning, water recovery and water treatment through Root-Zone technology, absorption chiller etc. The building has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister. Worked for 3 weeks in BHUTAN on the UNDP mitigation options for GHG abatement project. Organised the EU-India Renewable Business Development Forum supported by European commission and was the Convenor of the FORUM. Organised International Symposium on Financing of Solar energy supported by European commission including training of Bank officials. Worked on a PVMTI project to develop the PV solar systems in West Bengal. Working as PI on a “PV Credit Mobilization” project for devising methods to tap latent finances available to PV supported by European commission. Worked as PI on a project “EU-India Clean Energy Year Book” supported by European commission along with James and James,UK. Working on Solar PV in commercial sector as a means for Climate change . Worked on several GHG evaluation and abatement projects like TREAT , ALGAS etc. and development of CDM projects.

• Worked for the technology forecasting and long range planning in the area of renewable energy including wind, solar, hydel and fuel cells.

• Worked as UNDP fellow in Photovoltaic technology area . Visited several (30 R & D and Industrial) establishment in Germany France, Switzerland, USA and Japan during Nov '92 to June '93. The main stay was at National Renewable Energy Laboratory , Colorado, USA.

• Established the green field project of Amorphous Silicon Pilot Plant at Gwalalpahari for Department of Non conventional Energy Sources, Govt. of India at a cost of 16 crores including the preparation of DPR. The plant was established with equipment from Asahi Glass Japan and Glasstech, USA. The plant was commissioned in August 1992 and dedicated to the nation by Hon`ble Prime Minister in September 1992.

• Developed Photovoltaic cell and module technology and then established complete manufacturing facilities at BHEL, Bangalore based completely on in house technology development. Several important SPV systems were designed and installed. The facilities were developed right from silicon crystal growth to the finished modules. A small facility for space grade calls was also established with BARC technology

• Established complete manufacturing facility for large area high power thyristors and diodes in collaboration with M/s. Siemans, West Germany. The project included float zone silicon crystal growth to final devices. Responsibility included preparation of the project report, various govt approvals and complete implementation of the project till commercial production. Was responsible for the development of several indigenous equipment for the first time in the country.

• Established semiconductor device and Molecular Beam Epitaxy laboratories at I I T, Madras and developed technology for fabrication of PIN diodes for microwave radar applications. Other areas of research included photoelectrets, Laser Raman spectroscopy, MBE and vapor phase growth, Crystal growth and their characterization using electrical, di electrical and optical techniques at room and low temperatures. Other research areas included lasers and photoelectrets.

• Organised and conducted a large number of Short term courses on Semiconductor technology in addition to regular teaching assignment at IIT, Madras. Guided several students for graduate, postgraduate and doctorate work.

• Attended several International and national conferences / seminars on solid state technology , Renewable Energy technologies , Climate change , financing mechanisms and Energy Efficiency and presented several papers /reports in International journals. Received Training at Siemens (in 1977 and 1979) in Float zone Silicon Growth, Neutron transmutated Doping , High power thyristor manufacturing and testing and Power Semiconductor Technology. Published several technical reports and papers in the international conferences and journals on solid state technology, renewable energy technologies, Financial mechanisms for sustainable development, energy efficient buildings, rural projects etc.
